General Best Management Practices:

Contact your local weed control agency for site specific BMP's

  • Awareness and early recognition are the best defense against future infestations.
  • One of the simplest and most effective method of control is hand pulling.
  • Plants must be bagged if no flowers are present and seedpods have formed.
  • Herbicide application is most effective in the rosette stage (April), before plants flower (June — July).

Prevention (Prev) is always the best method. Monitor your land and destroy single plants before seed production to avoid costly expense.

Mechanical (Mech) and physical control methods include hand pulling, digging, cutting, mowing and tilling.

Cultural (Cult) control methods include biological control agents, livestock grazing, and revegetation practices.

Chemical (Chem) control methods include the use of selective site-specific herbicides. Always read and follow the label.
