The primary objective of surveying and mapping is to accurately delineate the weed infestations and to identify land that is threatened by noxious and invasive weed encroachment.
In the spring of 2005, Salt Lake County initiated a comprehensive weed inventory program in conjunction with the Bonneville CWMA. Surveys and mapping will be done by weed control staff using Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and will be digitized with Arc View, a computer mapping program.
Mapping is done not only to establish a historical database, but also to develop weed management goals and objectives; increase public awareness; and evaluate weed management progress as it relates to noxious weed spread rates and patterns.
Digitized maps are posted here. Please check back for updates.
