The Salt Lake County Weed Control Program is initiating an education program that provides resources for the public and encourage the community to actively engage in local noxious weed issues. Examples of some of our future projects include:
- Lessons, presentations, and activities for elementary and high school teachers and their students on noxious and invasive plants
- Presentations for garden and outdoor groups on noxious weed identification, prevention, and control
- Brochures and fact sheets for private property owners, outdoorsmen, and anyone interested in becoming a weed warrior
- Newsletter
- Stewardship activities
Prevention is the first line of defense against [Noxious weeds]. The old adage "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" means placing a priority on preserving and protecting lands not presently infested.
